She is the sister of George Bressler Hartman and they are children of Samuel Hartman and Lucy Holcomb. George and Amanda were born in Pennsyvania probably near present day Lock Haven. Samuel had 10 children born in Penn and Ohio. George B served in the Civil War in 14th Ohio Infantry. Wounded in battle of Chickamauga and according to family stories was paralized for some time. He went to Ft Wayne Ind in 1865 and Montana in 1871 first settled in Bitter Root Valley. Most of this I found in a sketch from the Missoula Library. Have much information on the Hartman Family in Ohio and Penn. Marilyn Heesch
