Muriel was born on Nov. 10, 1901, to Sam and Effie Mae Bronson in Minot, N.D. She attended schools in Oakes, N.D., and studied music in Fargo, N.D., when she met Clair Brown, who she married in 1927. They moved to Birmingham, Ala., where Clair was manager of the Montgomery Ward store. They later moved to Moline, Ill., where her husband began a tire recapping plant, Brown's Tire Company, and where their son Willis Dwight Brown was born. After World War II, the family moved to Missoula where her husband began Dairy Queen of Montana and North Dakota. She directed numerous choirs and glee clubs in Moline and Missoula for church and Masonic organizations. Muriel enjoyed music and being with her grandchildren and family. Her hobbies included writing poetry, singing, playing the organ and gardening. She wrote a poem each year for her grandchildren's birthdays, which encompassed the highlights of that year, and a Christmas poem each year to the Dairy Queen stores in Montana and North Dakota. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Missoula and a 50-years member of Electa Chapter 7 OES. Her husband Willis Clair Brown passed away in 1962 in Missoula and her son Willis Dwight Brown passed away on April 19, 2000. She later married Frank R. Parrish, who preceded her in death. Her sister Loraine Moyer also preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by two grandchildren Christy Ann and her husband Howard, and James, all of Missoula; one great-grandson Benjamin; one daughter-in-law Diane; and two nephews Lyman and Keith Moyer. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Garden City Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Missoula City Cemetery.
