Chaussee MISSOULA - Wilma S. Chaussee, 70, of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at her home. She had been suffering from cancer for the last several months. She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Brownsville, Texas, to Mary and Henry Buchanan. In 1944, she moved to Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School. On Sept. 28, 1949, she married George J. Chaussee. The couple resided in Missoula where Wilma worked at Montgomery Wards and Anders Office Supply along with being a full-time mom to John, George Jr., Debbie and Lynette. She enjoyed gardening and yardwork but most of all, spending quality time with her beloved husband fishing and hunting. Some say that Wilma taught George J. the tricks of the trade to help him master his hunting and fishing skills. Several years ago, when burning firewood was common, George and Wilma made quite a team. George was the sawyer and Wilma was the choker setter, loader and unloader. She sure could make a warm fire on a cold day. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debbie and Lynette and husband Louis, all of Missoula; two sons, John and wife Judy of Missoula and George Jr. and wife Brenda of Bigfork; three sisters, Carrie Yackie and husband Jack, MaryAnn Bauer-Jones and Octavia Bonebright; one brother, Bob Bauer; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Jake Chaussee and wife Joan. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Garden City Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the funeral home's community room. The Rev. Tom King is officiating. The family extends a special thanks to Brigit, Butch and Tom with hospice and suggests memorials to Partners in Home Care Hospice Bereavement, 500 N. Higgins Ave., Suite 201, Missoula, MT 59802. ------------------------- I am not related to, nor do I have any personal knowledge of, the Chaussee family.
