    1. [MTMISSOU] Looking for my gr-gr-grandmother's sister - maiden name OLSON.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: theresaanngrammer Surnames: Olson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.montana.counties.missoula/1903/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm hoping to find the sister of my gr-gr-grandmother, Mathilda (aka Tillie) Olson 1864-1911. Tillie's obituary indicates she had a sister living in Missoula, MT. Tillie and her family settled in Mankato, Blue Earth County, MN. Their father's name is Simon Olson. According to Tillie's obituary: 1) She was born April 21, 1864 in Romedahl, Hedmarken, Norway. 2) She immigrated with her parents when she was four years old (abt. 1868 or 1869). 3) Her family settled in Mankato. 4) Her obituary indicates a sister (name not mentioned) living in Missoula, MT and an aunt (name not mentioned) living in Mankato, MN. It did not mention her parents, which makes me think they may have passed away already. Tillie married Nicholas Steichen in Moorhead, Clay County, MN on 10-24-1887. Her marriage certificate indicates she was from Blue Earth County, MN. Tillie is listed on the 1900 and 1910 census in Otter Tail County, MN. She died in Lida, Otter Tail County, MN on 03-30-1911. Her death certificate indicates her father's name is Simon Olson. Her mother's name is unknown. Since her husband didn't provide her mother's name for the death certificate, I'm thinking her mother may have passed away before she got married in 1887. Most records indicate Tillie is Norwegian, but the birth certificate for her daughter, Ella Lorena Steichen, indicates she is Swedish. Also, the family history is that she is Swedish not Norwegian.
