    1. Re: Louis BROWN & Emily, daughter of Goshea
    2. Margie Landreville
    3. After sending my message yesterday, I started looking at what I already had and came up with some new (to me) info. The Louis Brown family was on the 1860 census in the Bitter Root Valley, Spokane Co, Washington. Looking at this with info I did not have before, I find Moise Reeves living with him with his wife, Suzette. The Suzette is the daughter also known as Josette, Josephine, or even Lizette. Suzette is 17 years old on the census, so the older daughter and first wife of Moise, Leanon, was already dead. In addition, there were other children of Louis & Emily that I had not recorded: Modaie (Mordachi?), age 21 Catherine, age 18 On the 1870 census, Annie, age 16, and Joseph, age 13, are listed. They are not on the 1860 census. The one I call Liska on the 1860 census may have actually been Luke with the sex recorded incorrectly. So the adjusted family I now have is: Leanon, b 1837, d 1855 Modaie, b 1839 Catherine, b. 1842 Josette, b. 1843 Mary, b 1844 Eliza Rose (recorded Larose on the 1860) b Aug 1849, died 27 Aug 1923 (this is the family I am tracing--she married Joseph Houle) Emily, b 1852, died 21 Apr 1937 (she married Henry Larrivee) Annie, b. 1854 Joseph, b 1857 Luke, b. 1858 Maria, b 1861 Moses, b. 1866 Any information on the Brown family--spouses, descendants, and especially ancestors of Louis Brown and Emily, daughter of Goshea -- greatly appreciated. 1. Louis BROWN & Emily, daughter of Goshea
    2. Margie Landreville
    3. I'm researching in Montana for a friend and I would like to know more about Louis Brown, early Missoula pioneer. He married Emily, daughter of Goshea, a Kalispel Indian Chief. I know he was born in Canada about 1810, and I have him on the 1860, 1870, & 1880 census. Couldn't find him in 1850. He died sometime after 1880. His wife, Emily, also died after 1880. Louis and Emily had at least 9 children, mostly girls. The 2 boys Joseph and Moses disappear after the 1870 census. Eliza Rose married Joseph Houle and Emily married Henry Larrivee. The other girls were Mary, Larose, Annie, Liska, and Maria, Some of the histories of Montana indicate there were two othe girls: Leanon and Josette (Josephine or even Lizette), but the ages of these girls just don't fit in. Leanon was supposed to have married Moise (Moses) Reeves in 1854 and then died in 1855. Moise then married Leanon's sister Josette sister in 1857. She died in 1873. On the 1870 census she was 20 years old, and if Moise married her in 1857, he was really robbing the cradle! Louis and Emily were married, I think, about 1842, and Leanon would have to have been born maybe around 1838, more or less. Josette could actually be one of the other girls, but I just don't know. Also, is there some way to find out more about Goshea, the Kalispel chief? I have whatever there is on Ancestry -- census data, histories, etc. -- and I found one reference for Josette by googling -- she was the first patient at St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center in Missoula, where she died in 1873. This item also says she was the daughter of Louis Brown and the wife of Moise Reeves. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Margie
