I have listed with question marks that Robert James Brennan moved from Montana, married a Della Wittenberger and they had a daughter named, Linda Darlene Brennan born 15 Mar 1950. I have no other info on Robert James, however I will search for what ever I can. What took Caroline Pauline Kuenzli to Montana were her Hauswirth cousins who were involved with the Anaconda & several other mines in the area. She meet James A Brennan through her visits with the Hauswirths. I turned all my Hauswirth information over to the Montana Genealogy Society that went back to about 1550. I have no idea if they let if out for publication. At that time, (about 25 years ago) it was their oldest holding and there was also a Hauswirth that was a Mayor of one of the commuunities. He never contacted me or thanked me for the donation, however, the Society was most greatful. Caroline Pauline Kuenzli born: 29 Aug 1875, Town of Pewaukee, Waukesha, Wisconsin - She was the 6th of 8 children all born in Waukesha County, Wisconsin I also had noted that James A Brennan immigrated to the United States in the year 1889 from I believe a 1920 census and was in the US about 43 years. His occupation was listed as a farmer. Caroline no longer was teaching. The Kuenzli family name spelling changed after they immigrated to the United States: 25 Apr 1854. The original spelling was "Kunzli" It was fun tracing them as I had to look up both spellings. The Kuenzli family was an asset to the pioneers in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Yes, the maps are of interest to me as they may turn up some of the mines that the Hauswirths had: They were a family of adverture. And, also add them to my Kuenzli information. Is there some way I may contact you direct??? via email rather than go through the message boards? Have a terrific day and I will forward whatever I find on Robert James Brennan> Thank you, Nancy Stuhlman [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: thestarfires Surnames: Kuenzli, Brennan Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.montana.counties.missoula/1897.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Nancy, Thank you very much! That is very helpful indeed. James Alphonsus Brennan was born 1872 in Holland Township, Grey County, Ontario, the 2nd youngest of 10. James is mentioned in his brother William Henry's biographical sketch in "A History of Aboriginal and Territorial Montana and Three Decades of Statehood. Vol. I-III. Chicago and New York, USA: The American Historical Society, 1921, Montana: Its Story and Biography, Volume 2" where it says: "James is a farmer in the Bitter Root Valley of Montana" His brothers William Henry and Edward settled in Missoula. James Alphonsus Brennan's parents are: James Brennan, born in County Carlow, Ireland, about about 1822 (probably near Leighlinbridge). He married Clarissa Keyes, born 21 Mar 1831 in Prescott, Canada. I have not been able to find documentation for the location aside from William Henry's biography. One of her census forms says Ontario and another says Quebec. The only death record I've found does not list her parents. I have only been able to find birth and death records for the same son, Robert James, died 9 June 2004 in Priest River, Bonner, Idaho. I have not attempted to get an obituary yet to see if surviving family are mentioned, etc. In the section you wrote on Caroline's parents, is it Caroline that was born 15 Dec 1842, rather than Katherine? If you are interested, I have been working on a map showing some of the related families around Dornoch, the town that developed where Holland and 3 other Townships meet in Grey County. It is here: www.brennan-families.com/dornoch.jpg. Holland is the top right section. James' lot in 1851 was in the 2nd concession west of the division, 3 lots up. Later he had a lot to the east, Concession 5, Lot 2, and later still he and Clarissa moved to the larger town to the north, Owen Sound, where their widowed daughter Margaret Brennan Malone lived. There are quite a few families in Dornoch related by birth or marriage to the Brennans. I have my Brennan information up at www.brennan-families.com. Or you are welcome to email me at thestarfires (at) earthlink (dot) net directly. Thank you again! Chris Starfire Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
