Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/INB.2ACE/1417.2.1 Message Board Post: You are amazing, you have just provided documentation that this is infact my John Nelson Preston. I have been searching for what happened to him for years and never would have thought to find him in Montana. Guess thats why no one knew anything about him. The family bible didnt even note his second marriage to Ida Belle or any of his children. We found out about Clarence only thru an old photo that was found in an older descendants personal effects and on the back it stated son of John. Now, thanks to you, my Family Chart will have a place for all his three sons. I dont know if you keep a list of Montana researchers but if anyone is interested in this family group I would be glad to share what I have. I have John Preston's lineage documented back two more generations. Feel free to pass on my email address if it would be of help to someone else. Thank you so much & Happy New Year Marsha

PRESTON, John Died: 17 Oct 1926 at 70 years of age Index #: MslaC 1862 (Missoula County) I was unable to find John in the Ancestry.com database for the 1907-1953 Montana Death Index records; however, did find him in the Montana Genealogical Society's index (not all years yet completed). Go to the following link--caution, this is a large file and takes quite a few minutes to download: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtmsgs/death_records.htm To obtain a copy of John Preston's obituary, try "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK)" for Montana, as there are two look-up volunteers listed for Missoula County. You will be expected to pay for all associated costs, i.e., copying, postage, etc. http://www.raogk.org/montana.htm Or, try the Rootsweb Obituary look-up site, which has one volunteer for Missoula County: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obitl/volmt.html I expect Ida Belle Preston's date of death is also included in the Montana Genealogical Society's death index database, but without a search engine for the site, or her approximate date of death, it would be difficult to find. She is not listed on the Ancestry.com databases for either 1907-1953 or 1954-2002 Montana Death Indexes.

Jones Wednesday. His preliminary hearing was set for January 2 at 10 o'clock and in lieu of $5,000 bonds Lynch will be held at the county jail where he has been since December 15, the day of the alleged attach. Tuesday Lynch was brought before the justice of the peace but told the court he wished to take advantage of the 24-hour statutory time before making his plea. Lynce is accused of having inflicted injuries on Threlkeld which brought about the aged man's death. It was stated that the quarrel began between the two men over an alleged $3 rent bill Lynch owed Threlkeld. Witnesses stated, it was understood, that Threlkeld went to the Lynch cabin to evict the relief worker when the quarrel began. It was declared that Lynch and Threlkeld fought with clubs, and that the older man was felled. He was taken to the hospital where he died a day or two following the quarrel. His injuries included fractures, skull injuries and shock. ---------------------------- Transcription of the Census and newspaper article provided as a courtesy only; I am not related to, nor do I have any knowledge of, the Threlkeld family. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CURRY, DONEY, NELSON Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/INB.2ACE/1405.1 Message Board Post: Les Curry Tournament honors Les Curry, By Chris Saur/Enterprise correspondent When the first Les Curry Invitational tips off today at the Davis High School gymnasium, many in the crowd will be remembering the man for whom the tournament is named. Curry, who died tragically in an auto accident this past summer, left behind not only a loving family but a legacy that can be seen throughout athletics in this community. A fixture at the helm of the DHS boys' basketball team from 1967 to 1984, Curry is almost certainly the schools all-time winningest coach - though records of that kind are not kept by DHS. However, his impact as a coach and a human being is probably best seen by looking at how the people he coached and coached with have gone on to be successful. Rick Stromberg, former DHS athletic director and the man who took over as varsity coach after Curry retired, headed up the junior varsity team for 14 years under Curry. "He was just a great person to work for and with; he knew a lot of basketball," Stromberg said. "His teams always played hard, and he had a great reputation with the coaches in the area as a well-prepared coach." Curry's sons Mike and Ryan each played for him and, not coincidentally, have gone on to be successful coaches in their own right. Mike returned to Montana, where the family was originally from as well as where Les was named one of the top 100 athletes in the state's history after playing basketball at Montana State. Mike Curry followed in his father's footsteps as a successful coach, winning several state championships. Ryan, the younger of the two, isn't far behind. Using much of what he learned from his father, Ryan became one of the youngest head coaches in the history of Nevada Union's boys' basketball team and now leads a team in Southern California. Their sister Denise was the most successful of the bunch in terms of playing, as she starred at UCLA. She became the schools all-time leader in points, including one Lew Alcindor. She then went on to win two gold medals with the United States women's basketball team and during the 1980s considered one of the best female players in the world. While Les Curry's children went on to success in the sport of basketball, there are no shortage of other people that the coach inspired. Bill Towne, who has coached basketball from junior high to DHS girls' varsity, played for Curry from 1972-74 and coached with him in 1983-84. "He was a very respected man, you always knew who was in charge," Towne said. "We knew that he understood basketball very well, and he was a disciplinarian. He would just give you that stare. But he was the kind of guy who the kids would have done just about anything he asked them." >From Stromberg to Towne, the list goes on as current varsity baseball coach and former basketball coach Dan Ariola, former football coach Marc Hicks and former Athletic Director Brian Ziser, all learned from Curry. "If you played against his team you always knew it was going to be a tough game, he got a lot out of his (players)," Stromberg remembered. "He really was a great person as well as a great coach." The DHS boys' team, now headed by Dan Gonzalez play Hogan tonight at 8:45 p.m. DHS is lead by its top scorer, Levi Wyniarczuk. Fans just might see a little of touch of Curry in his game, since Levi's father, Roland, played for Curry as well. (Obituary from the "The Davis Enterprise," Thursday, December 15, 2003.)

Private interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. ------------------------------------- Extracted from "The Missoulian," online edition of Friday, August 16, 2002: Wilma S. Chaussee MISSOULA - Wilma S. Chaussee, 70, of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at her home. She had been suffering from cancer for the last several months. She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Brownsville, Texas, to Mary and Henry Buchanan. In 1944, she moved to Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School. On Sept. 28, 1949, she married George J. Chaussee. The couple resided in Missoula where Wilma worked at Montgomery Wards and Anders Office Supply along with being a full-time mom to John, George Jr., Debbie and Lynette. She enjoyed gardening and yardwork but most of all, spending quality time with her beloved husband fishing and hunting. Some say that Wilma taught George J. the tricks of the trade to help him master his hunting and fishing skills. Several years ago, when burning firewood was common, George and Wilma made quite a team. George was the sawyer and Wilma was the choker setter, loader and unloader. She sure could make a warm fire on a cold day.
