I checked on the name of "Floy Kemper," and discovered that this was the name of William B. Kemper's sister. If you think this lead is worth pursuing, I will find more information on Floy Kemper. When the land was offered free, if one built a cabin/house/dwelling and stayed on to improve for some many years to own; where are the records for these filings for Western Montana! My GreatGrandpa Pierre "Pete" Louquet and his sons all filed for these acres in Powell Co, Avon, Helmsville area etc; but I have yet to learn where to get what the filings were, so that I can (as I have in Carbon County, MT) get records from Federal Government! My Great Grandpa Pierre "Pete" Louquet filed for land outside of Avon, in Powell County; but where do I find these records! I did this for Carbon County, which they were filed in district of Bozeman for other Great Grandpa and once I had the filing place, I sent the correct form and fee to the NARA and got a copy of those land records.
