Robert Lee GORDON was born around 1890 in Michigan (records vary, but Detroit, Wayne, MI seems to be most common). He married Ada Juanita HOUSE (b: 1899 Winnebego, Illinois) around 1915 in Clinton, Montana. They moved to Spokane WA around 1920. She died in 1929. The children (8) went to orphanges and foster homes. Robert was last seen in Spokane in 1934....don't know where he went after that. Ada was born to James Alfred HOUSE and Della GOODWIN. James was the son of William Price HOUSE and Hannah MESSICK. Sometime after 1900, Hannah and her children (incl. James & wife Della) moved to Missoula, MT. Any connections or information on this family? Pete Hanson

A post office opened in 1913 with Hannah Green as postmaster. Later, while Barney Heyings was postmaster, he ran a grocery store and meeting place that was as near to being a town as Knobs ever became." --------------- Below is a link to the MTGenWeb Fallon County Rootsweb site which offers many resources for research: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtfallon/_fll.html Good luck!

Does anyone know which county this is, so I can do a Census look-up for this relative? I am told that the town no longer is there or it has been re-named?
In the 1920 MT census there was the following: > http://www.geocities.com/bavila7758/1920MT.html > 1920 MALLOCK CHARLES F Missoula County MT Bonner 162-11 > Charles F. Mallock Head MW 71 M CAN CAN CAN Lumberman > Carrie C. Wife FW 45 M IA US US > Aurelia Dau FW (rest was blank) name crossed out on census image I think that Charles F. Mallock/h belongs in my family tree. I cannot find him in the 1930 US census, but can find Carrie C. Mallock, widow, in Los Angeles in 1930. Assuming that Charles F. Malloch died in Montana between 1920 and 1930, does anyone have a death date or obituary for him? Would love to know the names of parents that were given on his death record. Norma Nepean. In 1895 a wee local news column in the St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Courier reported that > Mrs Fred BEAN from Missoula, Montana who visited her sister Miss Annie KNIGHT > in Milltown in 1895 (see NB Newspapers Vital Stats, vol. 97--# 1876) Can Fred BEAN and his wife (Mary?) be located in the Montana 1900 and later census returns?? May I ask if you two ever connected? If so, I would be interested in discussing with you the WILHELM line in either Montana or Texas. I am looking for descendants of William Welcome WIL(L)HELM, born 1843 in Tennessee, moved to Franklin Co., Arkansas by 1850 and served in an Arkansas infantry unit during the Civil War. He later married and moved to Texas. Sometime after 1883 he left his family in Texas and dropped out of sight. In 1940, a relative of mine met a 97-year old Wilhelm in a Montana hospital--shortly before he died. He was visited by two daughters. Her notes do not reflect which hospital or town in Montana--hence my search of all things WILHELM. I would appreciate your help in asking your friend's family if their lines connect. I will look for an obit for your Mary / Percy Wilhelm, and continue census and city directory searches for my Wilhelms and your friend's Wilhelms. Welk Willhelm is my "dead-end" and I enjoy the hunt! My great aunt Minerva Brown, aged 25, left Leeds Co., Upper Canada with her brother Abner and came to Missoula. A year later, Abner moved on to Washington State. Family oral history says he was a book salesman. Minerva stayed in Missoula and later married Theo Loveland a rancher and miller. It has been a mystery why this young woman would have come all the way to Montana where there were no known friends or relatives. She obviously had to earn a living and I am hoping someone on the list can tell me what sort of jobs were available there that would entice her to come so far from home. Since her brother was a book salesman - at least after he came to Montana - I am wondering if there was a publishing industry there. Any comments welcome. Marjorie.

Hello Joyce. I don't have any Messersmith's in my lineage but was just answering a call for help and will forward this to the list . Thanks, Carolee Hi Carolee, This is what I could find. I would suggest you try posting on the Ravalli County board for the cemetery information and see if someone comes forward over there. I live about 7 hours away from there. Hope this helps some.
