Surnames: Hartman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/INB.2ACE/1473 Message Board Post: I am seeking any knowledge of or links to further references to my Great-Grandfather, "'GEORGE B. HARTMAN', a Missoula, MT pioneer who crossed the plains to Montana in the early 70's.", according to a death notice of his son, my Grandfather, 'CHARLES E. HARTMAN', published (in Missoula newspaper clipping) on June 25, 1922. I know there is a 'HARTMAN' street in Missoula, which is presumably referring to GEORGE B. not CHARLES E. My father, GEORGE VENON HARTMAN, was 10 years old when this was published, but died several years ago at age 90. The clipping (see .jpg attachments) refers to my Grandfather's Aunt, MRS. HENRY C. MYERS, who also (apparently) was a "pioneer resident of" Missoula. I have some photos, letters and clippings from this era, but very little to try to understand personal histories and events. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Also an Uncle George Truxler who may have lived near Los Angles Lena Schmid immigrated to America from Austria about 1880 with her mother (the father died shortly before they departed) and seven brothers and sisters. Some, or all, of them grew up in Missouri. We are trying to get information on each branch of the family and would love to hear any details regarding these Truxlers.

But now there is another one that is available from the Montana Genealogical Society. It is browseable by decades, and does not have a search engine feature like the one from Ancestry, but it is much more complete and accurate than Ancestry's. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtmsgs/death_records.htm And here is the one for Mineral County: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/mt/mineral/deaths/ I should have sent these to you the first time! Have fun.

To find out where these folks are buried, you should obtain copies of their Death Certificates (they are very inexpensive in Montana), and they will list the funeral home and cemetery, etc. Contact the Clerk & Recorder for Missoula County: http://www.co.missoula.mt.us/clerkrec/webdeathapp.pdf If you wish to obtain Jesse Coughren's Death Certificate, contact the Ravalli County Clerk & Recorder: http://www.co.ravalli.mt.us/clerk&recorder.htm Good luck!

I should have added this to my previous post, and I should have made the subject line of that first post a bit clearer. I guess it is getting late and I should put this away and work on it tomorrow! I am looking for the death date and burial information for the following couple: Ephraim E. JOHNSON, b. 1866 his wife, Minnie (MILES) JOHNSON, b. 1872 They lived in Tarkio or Superior, Mineral County, MT, from about 1920ish probably till they died. I don't know if they moved into town (Missoula) after retirement. But, I do think two of their children lived in Missoula, namely Mrs. Bessie Coughren and Ralph E. Johnson. Can anyone tell me if they are buried in Missoula? I hope there is an index. If not, please advise me as to where to make my next move to find them. I appreciate your assistance very much. Laura
