Surnames: Corson, Jones Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4NB.2ACI/97 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Jennie Corson. Articles in the Helena Daily Independent and The Butte Daily Miner from the early 1880's refer to her as the "The Sheep Queen of Montana" and the "Shepherdess of Montana", and suggest she has one of the largest sheep ranching concerns in the region. She may be the Jennie C. Corson, of Chicago, mentioned in a 1879 Daily Miner article as visiting the Territory, traveling with a Mrs. R. E. Jones. Thanks, G. A. Howard

Meagher, born 03 Aug 1823 in Waterford, Ireland, has a wonderful biography of his colorful life contained in the 3-volume "Progressive Men of Montana," ca. 1902. Apparently he drowned in a river, and I am not sure a burial site is known. Read about him here: http://www.lib.umt.edu/gsdl/cgi-bin/library.exe?e=d-000-00---0montana--00-0-0--0prompt-10---4------0-1l--1-en-50---20-home---00031-001-1-0utfZz-8-00&a=d&c=montana&cl=CL1.13.47&d=D001D03254 You can read more about him under "History of Meagher County" in the Meagher County GenWeb site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtmeaghe/ Note that it says Meagher is pronounced "Mar."
