    1. Re: [MTGEN] Voting Time Frame -Re: Requirement to Update
    2. Well, better late than never I guess. I vote Yes, but I have to agree with Nancy that I would be more comfortable with a once a year requirement. Especially since I am one of those who haven't updated their sites in quite a while. When I took over the Daniels and Sheridan County sites in 2006, I knew nothing about html or how to set up a site. I took a basic html course and used it to help me set up the sites as they are today (hand coded)and VERY BASIC. I have been going to revamp them for some time, but haven't had the time to figure out how I can easily do so. Nonetheless, I have been lax about checking my links and doing other updating. I hope that with a 6 (or 12) month update requirement, that it will force me to be more diligent. (I delayed replying since I had hoped to get both sites updated. That didn't happen although Sheridan County is mostly updated. My goal is to have them both updated (links at least) by the 10th of July. 3. I am quite sure that with Ancestry's DDOS attack and Rootsweb going down for over a week that you are not late Pam. I am pleased to hear what you have done to learn HTML so that you can take care of your counties. Updating once every six months means to add something, even if it is a small cemetery or a couple of obits or a historical photo. It doesn't mean the entire site has to be updated every six months. The index page should be the page to keep updated and of course any new pages will be updated if you date them when they are added. I have started doing this. Fixing broken links when you hear about them is a big help to researchers too. Sounds like you will be able to manage just fine. Who needs bells and whistles when they are doing genealogy? I know I would prefer simple text pages as long as it has the documentation!
