    3. James, I wasn't sure the color coding would come through to the list but thought I would give it a try. As an FYI here are the changes I color coded: In #3, change copyright notice on every page of the county website to copyright notice on the main page, and remove the entire paragraph beginning with "Unless indicated otherwise..." In #4, Change the first sentence to: All website contents remain the property of the county website for future CC's to use unless the contributor requests its removal. (removing the 2nd part of the sentence) Remove the 2nd sentence beginning "All material contributed..." 3. Every county must include a copyright notice on the main page. The following copyright notice is an example only of common copyright statements used on the internet (you may choose your own wording). © Current Year. Host Name. All Rights Reserved. Unless indicated otherwise in a particular page carrying this copyright notice, permission to use, copy and distribute documents and related graphics delivered from this World Wide Web server (url of county site) for non-commercial uses is hereby granted, provided that the above copyright notice appears in all copies and that both that copyright notice and this permission notice appear. All other rights reserved. Host Name disclaims all warranties with regard to this information. The information described herein is provided as is without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. 4. All website contents remain the property of the county website for future CC's to use unless the contributor requests its removal and the MTGenWeb maintains no rights to any materials on any project website. All material contributed to the website by someone other than the webmaster should contain a copyright notice granting permission to publicly display the material from the author of said material. Any material that is copyrighted and published without permission from the author must be removed immediately.

    3. Shirley, on the policy page......the second paragraph below this last sentence. Doesn't make sense to me. Jane Keppler << *Resignation of a Coordinator* In the event that a coordinator no longer wishes to volunteer with this project, notice must be given to the SC as soon as possible. The SC will announce to the mail list that the coordinator is stepping down and will offer the county up for adoption to the membership first. If no existing County Coordinator is interested in adopting the orphaned county, a notice will be placed on the county index and a new host will be recruited to fill the vacancy. The outgoing coordinator may choose to remain with the project until a new coordinator is found or may choose to step down immediately. 3. Rather than host name, which could be construed as the property of the hosting service the site is on, can we use a different term? I would prefer as ex: Glacier County MTGenWeb project That way both the county and state project are covered. For those of us who have been around a while, the page that Shirley found actually predates the currently used policy page. I cannot remember exactly what happened in having both but the current page was added by Kevin Haddenham. The "found" page was added to the site before Kevin was elected. It is possible that we should have been using the page all along when we were discussing rules and regulations for our project back then. I don't remember every voting on our discussions but maybe it was informal? I think you will find that the found policy page is both reasonable and complete. I hope we can all support spiffing up this project with a solid framework. 3. HI Everyone, When I went into the MTGenWeb directory to update the policies.html page, I found another page named "policy.html". Karen did some checking and the page was written up but not voted on several years ago. The page addresses many of the issues that have been a concern for the project and I propose we discuss and vote on the adoption of it to replace the current page but I recommend the following changes (blue = change to & yellow = remove). Please look at both pages and post your thoughts to the list for the discussion. Current page: http://www.mtgenweb.com/policies.html Proposed page: http://www.mtgenweb.com/policy.html My recommendations for the proposed page are: The MTGenWeb logo should be the official logo voted on in 2012 and all links should be updated. The reference to date stamps should be updated to reflect the recent requirement on all county websites. 3. Shirley
