Hi Folks, Finding free webspace is a concern for all of us and I wanted to check out the Google Free sites as an alternative to RootsWeb. I went to the site today for the first time and found it to be really user friendly. For those of us who are not HTML savvy, the site provides everything for creating a quality website without having to know HTML coding. For those of us who are proficient in HTML, the site offers that capability as well. In my opinion, Google Sites would be a good choice for creating county websites or a place to have a mirror site in case of a major outage like the one RootsWeb had just a few weeks ago. The URL for Google Sites is https://sites.google.com/ and deserves a look-see. <g> Shirley

The allotted time for voting on the proposed new policy page has ended. The new policies were approved by a 14 yes to 0 no vote. I will add today's date to the bottom of the page ("approved on...") and change the link on the main page to the new policies. As with the previous approved requirement, there will be a 30 day grace period to allow everyone to bring their counties into compliance with the new rules for the MTGenWeb Project. If you have any questions, contact me. Thank everyone who participated in this important matter. 14 votes doesn't sound like many but the percentage is higher than normally found in the USGenWeb National election. 14 votes translates to just a little over 53% of the membership participated and that is good. Greetings CCs, I just noticed that when we get a posting from the list now, it no longer shows you the address of whom it is coming from, it only has the list address. What this means is we all will need to sign our postings so we know who is talking. Karen De Groote

Another state project has a month long roll call. Each project is different and should have its own guidelines for roll calls. For MT, I have always allowed 2 weeks for a roll call, then sent a private email to anyone not responding giving them an extra 48 hours to contact me. That system has worked well for the project. I want you to know I am reading the emails on the policy. I will vote yes but as you know I am not sure you need my vote. Just don't want you to be waiting on a vote. I can not seem to bring up the page you gave so I can read all of it. However it could just be me. I was into the discussion enough that I feel I understand where it is going.
