I'm sure I am also departing from the norm that we have experienced since the inception of this Project. However, personally, I don't see me just chairing meetings and motions. Change can be difficult. But without change, we don't grow. We begin to die. Am I comfortable about being the new National Coordinator? Nope. I certainly have not been in this position before. I will be drawing on my lessons on being a State Coordinator. I don't believe cohesiveness comes from being a dictator. I don't think that one size fits all. Everyone is different and everyone has different opinions about just about everything. My goal is to be the best that I can be. Will I be that to everyone? Probably not. But I am intent to do my best. That being said, I have received private emails from several people about things they are concerned with. Some things have required a bit of behind the scenes conversations, as well as receiving ideas for new possibilities for The USGenWeb Project. If you want to participate in conversations about new ideas for the National Project, I invite you to subscribe to the Discuss list and the All list, where I also invite cooperative conversations about possibilities that could be brought to fruition over the coming months. Every idea will not be able to be processed as I am pretty sure once folks start contributing their thoughts and ideas and we are all busy in our REAL lives besides Genealogy & History, but I want us to begin the exploration of how we can move USGenWeb forward into the future, and to explore what could be possible for our Project. Let's put together a list of ideas to address. Help me, to help you, and to help The USGenWeb Project. PLEASE KNOW AND UNDERSTAND, NEGATIVITY, NASTINESS AND INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON THESE LISTS. The County of Excellence Committee needs another person to help in the monthly selection of a County of Excellence (COE). If you can help please contact me. The committee also needs a couple of volunteers to look at the 5 nominated counties and help select the COE. The Finals Crew members may be COE regional surfers but that is not a requirement. The new policies include a provision for an SC election every 2 years and as I have been the SC for the MTGenWeb for 2 1/2 (or so) years, it is time to hold another election. The policies also state that candidates must declare their intention to run for the SC position no later than September 1st. The requirement for the position is having been a CC in the project for at least 12 months. I would like to continue as the SC of the MTGenWeb and this is my official notice of my intent to run for the position in the upcoming election. Shirley

There is a malware pop-up on Find A Grave (all pages) that says your Java is out of date. When you click on it to ignore it, it adds a setup.exe to your computer even though you didn't tell it to. That setup.exe file should be deleted from your downloads. Google found the issue sometime yesterday and my Avast is now blocking the download. Find A Grave is owned by RootsWeb and they have been notified. Shirley
