This month's County of Excellence is Big Horn County. In looking over the website, I was especially touched by the Recollections page. Brad Wagner describes his memories of his grandparents in such a way that you can almost see the images. I also found the Map of Reservations in MT very informative. Most of the cemeteries in the county are at least partially transcribed and others have links to the Find A Grave website. Big Horn is available for adoption and as this award shows, is in great shape. If you would like to adopt Big Horn or another available county drop me a note. <g> Congratulations to Big Horn County! On April 1st, Ancestry.com installed a search engine for its site on the banner at the top of the county and state pages housed on its server. However, in 2008, we were given the option to use an alternate banner that says USGenWeb on it without a search bar. Here is the information on how to get that banner on your websites. Create a txt file"banner_select.txt with only the word USGENWEB (all caps) in it and add it to your county directory. Then re-name it banner_select (removing the .txt extension). That is all you need to do. If you have any problems, let me know and we will figure it out. Shirley Here is the information as it was sent to us in 2008: <snip> As a USGenWeb coordinator you will also have the option to use a USGenWeb specific masthead. It can be viewed here: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/rootsweb/samples_mastheads/masthead_USGenWeb.jpg To get the USGenWeb masthead on your page instead of the standard one all you need to do is place a file named 'banner_select' in your public_html directory. It should contain the text 'USGENWEB' (all caps and without the quotation marks) and nothing else. <snip>
