    1. Re: [MSWINSTON] OBIT look ups ?
    2. Louis, are there any papers that date January, 1871? I'm looking for a man, William Butler Owings, that was supposed to have represented Winston County in the state legislature. He died in January, 1871. I've been trying for a while now to find where he was buried. Do you have any ideas? Thank you. Elinor Smith

    3. Hi Elinor: Unfortunately, no newspapers exist for Winston in that time. Tomorrow at work, will look for the Secretary of State's address for the state of Mississippi and you can write him and see what they could turn up. Also, what religion was Mr. Owings? On a long shot, he might have been written up in one of their state news letters. Also, may have been written up in The Macon Beacon of Macon (Noxubee County) MS newspaper - adjoins Winston and they have files on microfilm that can check for you when I go to the State Archives in Jackson some time in the future. Was he serving when he died? Let me know more and perhaps I can help.
