Ken, Thank you for this information. I do not have access to the Choctaw Cemetery book. Just copied the other information once - do not know how I missed the Turners. I have always thought that Lacy Hunt died in Greenville, SC before Kiziah came to MS but perhaps that is incorrect. A McClanahan/McKenzie descendant and I are going to replace broken/missing headstones for old Reuben McKenzie and wife this summer in Anderson Co., TX. A group of Wragg, McKenzie and McClanahan families moved to Anderson Co. from Winston Co., MS in Dec. of 1850. Also in that group were Holmes, Keeling, Callaway, etc. families. Dana, ----------------------------------------- According to the Choctaw County Cemetery Book, Franklin Turner is buried in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Choctaw County, MS. page 50 Franklin Turner b/ 1816 d/1854 Second husband of Kiziah McClannahan. Also, Kiziah McClannahan's first husband, William Lacy Hunt, has a tombstone in Bethlehem Cemetery, too. My info indicates William Lacy Hunt died in Greenville District, SC. Ken
Dana, I have noted in my notes that question, too. I haven't searched for any of them in the 1840 census, so am not sure when and where Lacy Hunt's widow came to MS and married - or vice versa. It is strange that he would have a tombstone in Bethlehem if he actually died and was buried in SC, but it could be a memorial to him, since the family settled here.
