Thomas Pearson b. ~ 1844 Winston County, Mississippi The 1880 Census lists the above Thomas Pearson, living in the Northeastern part of Winston County, Mississippi. What I am trying to determine is who this man's parents are. Could it be that his father is Robert P. Pearson residing at the same time in Oktibbeha County? Robert P. Pearson and his wife Mary R. had a son - Thomas - listed in the 1850 census who could have been born in 1844. There is a problem with my theory however and I can only hope the census taker made a mistake. The census listing for this Thomas lists his mother's birthplace as South Carolina where the 1850 Census and the 1880 Census lists her birthplace as Georgia. Also, Thomas was born in Alabama, not Mississippi as it states for him, however I have seen so many mistakes in census records I am hoping that is a mistake as well. Thomas is shown married to Francis. A check of the marriage records shows that Thomas Pearson married Francis E. Dempsey on 26 December 1867 in Winston County, Mississippi. I am also told Francis' middle name is Elmira or Almira. The couple's children are listed as Alex (age at census 10), T.J. Pearson (8), John J. I show Thomas Pearson to be son of William Pearson & Sarah. Thomas Jefferson Pearson and Frances A are buried in Center Ridge Cemetery, Winston County. His dates are b. 27 April 1844, d. 26 Sep 1921; hers b. 7 Jun 1848, d. 5 Apr 1940. I have not searched the 1850 Winston Co. census for Pearson, but you will probably find William and Sarah there. Sorry, but I think you will need to look further for your Thomas.
