Louise, I see from other sources the James's brother Thomas died in Richmond, VA in 1865 in the Civil War. I've only connected Thomas with his wife and children so far, for sure. I've read that his father was Dempsey Butler, b. SC, but without proof. I'll keep an eye out for any connections.
