My great great grandfather James M. Butler and family lived in Winston Co. from 1847 to 1852. His oldest son is named Thomas A. Butler. Thomas was born about 1837 in Alabama. The Peter Crawford estate on the Winston Co. web site lists a Thomas Butler purchasing a rawhide at the estate sale. I had assumed that this was my Thomas Butler but it may very well be yours.> > I see that your Thomas seems to have been born about 1818. 3. I've only connected Thomas with his wife and children so far, for sure. I've read that his father was Dempsey Butler, b. SC, but without proof. I'll keep an eye out for any connections.
