Louis, Hi, I have been looking for book list (for sale) from the different Countys around Winston Co. Years ago I was sent pages from a book on the people of Leahe Co. I would be interested in buying a copy, new or used of this book. I think it waas called History of Leahe Co. I am not sure since the title page was not copyed. Do you know how I can find out about these other countys books? also is there a copy of this book at the Winston Co. Library? If so it would be a big help. You are correct. He was Erasmus Reece Porter. Thank you for looking the info up. I think that my grandparents got married in Gurdon Ark., thats what a cousin of mine suggested anyway. I will work on that angle. Thank you so much for your effort. Kathy
Kathy: I went to the courthouse today and checked but did not find a marriage record for your Porter and Loftin. So apparently they did not marry in Winston Co, MS. Did find one for his father and mother. E. R. Porter m. Sue Clark 20 Dec 1871 Bk 5 pg 87 Bondsman: F. Johnson Married by:T. A. GLenn, minister of the Gospel At some point in my marriage record books, I had penciled in that his name was ERAMUS REESE Porter and she was SUSAN ADELINE Clark. Don't know where I got this info but when I find a name for an initial I always pencil it in. So do not know if this is correct or not. Maybe another researcher had listed it as that. Marriage record index at courthouse just had E. R. Porter. Peggy Mitchell
Looking for information on family of James Ward Etheridge, (b. 1822, Bertie, NC) and wife Nancy C. Smith (b. 1840 AL). James' father was William, and Nancy's father was Peter B. Smith. Carol Etheridge MacDonald
I know they werent buried there, but they were supposed to have been married in Winston County. I'll keep looking at other places they lived. Thanks for your time, anywwwway. Kathy
Kathy: Should have said my records at home only go through Jan 1908. Maybe they married after that date if in Winston Co, MS. Peggy
Kathy: Do not see a marriage listing in Winston Co, MS for the Porter names you listed. Do not see them listed in the cemetery book either. Peggy
I am looking for the marriage record of Robert Egar Porter-b July 8, 1874, to Lola Loftin b-1888(or 1887). Also possibly a birth record for Robert Edgar Porter-Parents Robert Egar Porter Sr, and Susan Adaline Clark. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Kathy Porter Wenthold Granddaughter

Hi To all, I received this today from the archivist at Wallace State Library here in AL. I went on line and read it and signed it. I think it is a slim chance we might make a difference, but we need to try. And if you agree, please forward to all you know who are interested in genealogy or family history.
