Dana, I have noted in my notes that question, too. I haven't searched for any of them in the 1840 census, so am not sure when and where Lacy Hunt's widow came to MS and married - or vice versa. It is strange that he would have a tombstone in Bethlehem if he actually died and was buried in SC, but it could be a memorial to him, since the family settled here. Ken ------------------------------------------- The article in "Families of Choctaw Co., MS" by the Historical Society says that Keziah came to MS in late 1839 or early 1840 with her eight children, led by oldest son, Esli. We have two Kiziah McClanahans. The Kiziah born 8 Aug 1835 was the daughter of our ancestor, Sarah Ann McKenzie and Peter Rice McClanahan. She did marry William Holmes in Anderson Co. TX 18 June 1856. The Kiziah McClanahan (1799-1862) was Peter's sister (therefore, an aunt to the above Kiziah). She married William Lacey Hunt by 1826 in Greenville, SC. He died in 1836. The family story is that she and her eight children came to Winston (later Choctaw Co.) MS by covered wagon after William Lacey died. Later she married Franklin Turner. Ken just gave Franklin's birth and death date from his headstone yesterday. Dana

Dana, I didn't know you had McClanahan ancestry. The only children I have for John McClanahan and Mary Robinson are: (1) Keziah, who married William Lacy Hunt and Franklin Turner (2) Hannah, who married Joseph Barron Maybe you would share more on this family history with me? Dana, I am confused. I have Kiziah's husband as William Holmes. Is that wrong? I know this is your line so you are the one I come to. I did not have Lacy Hunt but have added him. But who is this Franklin Turner? gale

Just remembered that Bethlehem Baptist in Choctaw Co. was founded by the Rev. William Halbert whose wife, Nancy McClanahan, was a sister to Kiziah McClanahan Hunt Turner. Dana
Ken, Thank you for this information. I do not have access to the Choctaw Cemetery book. Just copied the other information once - do not know how I missed the Turners. I have always thought that Lacy Hunt died in Greenville, SC before Kiziah came to MS but perhaps that is incorrect. A McClanahan/McKenzie descendant and I are going to replace broken/missing headstones for old Reuben McKenzie and wife this summer in Anderson Co., TX. A group of Wragg, McKenzie and McClanahan families moved to Anderson Co. from Winston Co., MS in Dec. of 1850. Also in that group were Holmes, Keeling, Callaway, etc. families. Dana, ----------------------------------------- According to the Choctaw County Cemetery Book, Franklin Turner is buried in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Choctaw County, MS. page 50 Franklin Turner b/ 1816 d/1854 Second husband of Kiziah McClannahan. Also, Kiziah McClannahan's first husband, William Lacy Hunt, has a tombstone in Bethlehem Cemetery, too. My info indicates William Lacy Hunt died in Greenville District, SC. Ken
I have Turner and Parks that married McCown family members. Do any of you know if these belong to your families? Children of William McCown & Mary Vaughn: 1. Nancy C. McCown (May 10, 1824, Monroe Co., MS - Nov. 11, 1886, Winston Co., MS) married Albert M. Parks August 15, 1840 in Winston County. 2. William Organ McCown (July 18, 1828, Winston - aft. 1875, Winston) married Frances E. Turner (Feb. 2, 1828, AL - bef. 1872, Winston) December 10, 1849 in Winston County. (My line) 3. John William McCown (abt. 1831, Lowndes County - ?) married Nancy E. Parks (abt 1832 - bef. 1874) February 05, 1851 in Winston County. Daughter of William O. McCown & Frances E. Turner, Mary Ann McCown (Jun 22, 1858, Winston Co. - ?) married William O. Turner (1858 - ?) December 03, 1885 in Neshoba County. I also show daughter Martha N. McCown (Oct. 24, 1864 - ?) married to W. O. Turner 1885 in Neshoba County. (Is this the same as William O. Turner & married to sister after death of 1st wife??) Madison Moultrie Miller ( Mar. 14, 1813, GA - ?) married Mary "Polly" Parks May 25, 1846 in Jackson Co., Ga. (Lived in Winston County 1850's - ?) George Stuart Smith Co., MS
Dana, According to the Choctaw County Cemetery Book, Franklin Turner is buried in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Choctaw County, MS. page 50 Franklin Turner b/ 1816 d/1854 Second husband of Kiziah McClannahan.
