In doing research for ancestors, I found that one of Ms. Wiese's books of "The Woodville Republican" contained an interesting article concerning a Daniel Bartlet who was found dead on 8 March 1838 near the residence of a Mr. Thos. White on Buffaloe. My surname is BARTLETT and I am trying to locate my ancestors. My ggrandfather, William W. Bartlett was born near Woodville, MS in 1823. Is there anyone in genealogyland who might be descended from this Thos. White, know anything about him, or this Daniel Bartlet(t) mentioned, or his heirs, if any. I checked the probate files in Woodville, but could not find anything on any Bartletts from 1838-1844. There is a Daniel Bartlett mentioned in the 1830 census in Wilkinson Co. and Virginia has a Daniel Bartlett serving on a jury in 1822. Thank you Virginia for your transcriptions. In addition, I checked the cemetery listings for the county and could find no burial site for the aforementioned Daniel Bartlet. I realize that I am providing more information than may be necessary, but only local people might be able to assist me since I live in LA. Thank you in advance for your help. Ray Bartlett
