    2. Dear Brenda, You wrote: James William Ashley (Jr.) b. Dec. 22, 1909, d. If so, most of the centers now have a subscription to Ancestry.com The 1930 census and earlier censuses are on Ancestry.com The 20th century censuses should give you some clues--but also the 1880 census which asked each enumerated person where each of his parents was born. Great info--if you can count on it!!! I understand that there has been some *messing about* with the search engines on Ancestry.com, and there may be difficulty in searching the 1930 and earlier censuses. I know from my own past research of the Wilkinson Co., MS-Feliciana Parishes, LA area that Netterville is found frequently in the records, beginning rather early. I suggest searching the Bureau of Land Management land patents--if they are still on line--for the name Netterville in both MS and LA. That may give you some clues. If I had a relatively unusual name like Netterville, I would collect them all!!! Is there a rootsweb list? Does Family History Library have a family history of that family. Do a surname search of the FHL catalog (_www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) ) E.W.Wallace

I am also about 45 minutes away from the Wilkinson County & Amite courthouses. And, about 20 minutes from the Adams County Courthouse. And, although the above "tools" are VERY useful--I have learned the hard way--sometimes you just need researchers or relatives from Wilkinson County to set you straight and on the right path. That's the reason I made the inquiry to the List. My original question was concerning James William "Willie" Ashley, Jr. b. Dec. 22, 1909, d. April 25, 1938 married to 1st Mary Netterville and 2nd to Bernice Anderson-with no dates (marriage or birth/death) on either wife. I would like to know more about the wives and his son James William Ashley III b. abt. 1934. On the 1930 Wilkinson Co. Census, James William "Willie" Ashley is age 20 and single, living in the household of his parents James William Ashley Sr. and Lilly Gertrude Jarrotte. The only Mary Netterville I can pick up in the 1930 census was b. abt. 1873 and is married to Eugene Netterville. Of course, the son was not born. Thanks to a cousin of mine in Woodville, I even have James William Ashley, Jr.'s obit from the Woodville Republican. And although that vital tool tells me a wealth of information about him, his children and siblings-- all it tells me about his wife is.. "He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Bernice Anderson; one son, William III; " which doesn't help me know more about her or his son. Of course, it is always great to be able to find our relatives on the census records or in the LDS records--but neither are totally dependable. To me, the best information is from the people of Wilkinson County who lived in or around the "information" and stories. THAT IS what I thought the Wilkinson County List was all about. Without trying to be rude, I would love to see a little more interaction between subscribers about FAMILY history not the Family History center. But thank you for your reply Brenda McCurley White
