Please put me on your mailing list. I am researching the Valentine Groom and wife Elititia Smith families of Wilkinson Co MS. They married in Adams Co in 1809 but resided on the lower Homochitto. We were specifically researching Benjamin S Grooms who married Rebecca McCaa, daughter of Rev Elihu McCaa and later Martha Jones Cobb, daughter of Hezikiah Jones. Benjamin was named as executor on Valentine's will of 1853, but he didn't name him specifically as a son. I believe he is a son, however. DNA testing has linked my Groom family with a descendent of Benjamin and we are all connected somehow back to the Groom families of Orange/Louisa/Spotsylvania possibly Middlesex counties of VA in the 1700s. I know that Valentine's daughter Susan married a Wiley, as Valentine acted as executor to the estate when her husband died. She later married a Phipps. I think the Robert Groom of Wilkinson Co who married Emily Welch is a son, but I haven't found proof yet. Valentine specifically named children Labitha deFord, Elizabeth Earle, and John Smith Groom in his will. I think that the Leonard Groom who was living with Labitha in 1850 was a son--again unconfirmed. Leonard's daughter Clara married Lance Ireson. I think that the younger Valentine Groom of the county who first married Louisa Gorton and later possibly a Martha was a son as well. If anyone can help me with leads to these families, I would appreciate it.
