This is so interesting! I found a gedcom at Ancestry that gives this family and includes my Mary M. as a daughter and she is listed in their h/h in the 1850 census records in Franklin co., MS. We are cousins! Another interesting note is that I have tons of Ashleys in my lines! Check it out at my web site! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thall/ I want to hear more about the Bowlins and YOUR ASHLEYS! Where does your Joseph come from? Who were his parents and his siblings. He might be one of mine, too! We could be related twice! Joseph Ashley married Sarah Bowlin in 1846. Her parents were William M Bowlin b 1790 and Margaret Edz. I have their children as Wiley Henry,Sarah C., William, Elizabeth and Amanda--no Mary M.--I wonder if there is a connection? Tim Ashley
Tina, I'm glad we've finallly got a connection! I believe we have tried to "claim kin" in the past through your Wilkinson County Ashleys. Even tho my recent ancestors came from Wilkinson County, they originated in Franklin County. Joseph' s father was James Ashley b1792 and this is my "road block" his mother was Mary "Polly" Nevill (I believe) b 1791. There is some mention of her being from Maryland and him from Louisiana. Joseph's only sib(to my knowledge) was George b1827 and he married a sister to Sarah Bowlin--Elizabeth b 1823. Joseph and Sarah's children were Seymore, Cicero, George B( my gggrandfather) , and Steven Van. I think that a lot of Franklin County residents went to Amite County to get married. Good to hear from you. Tim
