That is good advice==looking for theses and dissertations. While prowling around my nearby University research library, I found a thesis regarding colonial Surry Co., VA, a place where some of my earliest Virginia families lived for a time before removing to North Carolina in the 1750s.. I have seldom used NUMUC [National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections].... published in the past by the Library of Congress], but when I have looked up a couple of surnames--surprises!!! An unknown publication by an author known to be related to my Dad, and another collection by a priest, also related to my Dad.
