Question--Wilkinson Co. Wiley Shropshire b. abt. 1830 m. Mary McCearley(McCurley) b. abt. 1832 on June 6, 1854, Wilkinson Co., MS. Wiley was the son of Walter Shropshire (1797-1866) and Tabitha Day (? to 1802?) who married Mary "Polly" McCearley (McCurley) on June 6, 1854, Wilkinson Co. Mary was the daughter of Joseph McCurley (1800-1846) and Jane unknown (1804-1870) According to everything I have their children were: Levisa Jane (1857-1934), Nancy E. (1859-1942), Mattie (1871-1947) and Tabitha A. (1855-1891) But, on the 1880 census it lists a Wiley Shropshire age 49, Labitha A Shropshire, wife, age 45, Franklin R. Shropshire, age 15, stepson; and Walter Shropshire, age 20, nephew (which he was) Yes, at first I thought it was Tabitha A. until I checked out the dates. SO MY QUESTION IS THIS. Did Wiley Shropshire remarry or what????? There are courthouse records in Adams Co. a WILEY Shropshire married a L.A. Robinson April 2, 1873 in Adams County, MS. ARE THEY THE SAME,--DON'T KNOW!!!! If not why is a L.A. Shropshire listed on courthouse records on the settlement of estate instead of Mary McCurley Shropshire????? According to the Wilkinson Co. Courthouse records it shows Final account of Wiley Shropshire, guardian of T.C. (Thomas Chesley) MCCURLEY (1855-1944, son of James McCurley 1830-? and Lucy Shropshire 1832-?. Wiley would have been his uncle), upward of 21 years of age. Dated Aug. 7, 1876. Then on Aug. 10, 1887. Cause #1062, L.A. (Labitha Ann?) "Shropshire appointed adminstrator of estate of Wiley Shropshire, widow and heir at law and his children: Tabitha Cobb, wife of John S. Cobb; Martha Brown (Mattie) wife of J.A. (James Arthur) Brown; "Fancy" (Levisa Jane) wife of J. R. Leake and Nancy (Nannie) E. Carter wife of I.D. Carter all residents of Wilkinson Co, MS." Next date Jan. 9, 1888.
