    3. Brenda, Since you have a long question, I will give a long answer. > Wiley was the son of Walter Shropshire (1797-1866) and Tabitha Day (? to > 1802?) TABITHA DAY, b. est 1802 GA md WALTER SHROPSHIRE 18 Dec 1817 Amite county, MS 1850 Wilkinson county Census page 270B house 11 family 12 Walter Shropshire 48 planter $5000 real estate b. SC Tabitha 48 b. [ditto] SC [she was b. GA. ve.] Temperance 24 b. MS Lovice 18 b. MS Emily 16 MS Eliz 13 MS Amanda 10 MS Wiley 20 MS Thos 8 MS in this census, Wiley is with his parents and 20 years old. Tabitha's age is a ditto, under Walter's age. The census has her birthplace as SC. From tax records it seems her parents, Jonathan Day and Miss [unknown] Trice where in Hancock, GA at the time of her birth. They where in GA from the 1770s until Jonathan gave notice that he was 'removing himself' in 1807. > who married Mary "Polly" McCearley (McCurley) on June 6, 1854, Wilkinson Co. > Mary was the daughter of Joseph McCurley (1800-1846) and Jane unknown > (1804-1870) > According to everything I have their children were: Levisa Jane (1857-1934), > Nancy E. Since Mattie is 12 on this census she much be the Emily A. in the 1879 census. It was not uncommon for names to change between census. Since the names where not recorded by the state, but only in the family bible, it was easy to change a name if you decided you liked another better. By the way, this Moses Cavin was Alma Perry's grandfather. > But, on the 1880 census it lists a Wiley Shropshire age 49, Labitha A > Shropshire, wife, age 45 > courthouse records in Adams Co. a WILEY Shropshire married a L.A. Robinson >April 2, 1873 > SO MY QUESTION IS THIS. Did Wiley Shropshire remarry or what????? Yes. As L. A. is the adminstrator of his estate and listed as his widow. You can be sure it is the same Wiley because his children are named and they are the same children that appeared with him in the 1860 and 1870 census. > Then on Aug. 10, 1887. Cause #1062, L.A. (Labitha Ann?) "Shropshire > appointed adminstrator of estate of Wiley Shropshire, widow and heir at law and his > children: Tabitha Cobb, wife of John S. Cobb; Martha Brown (Mattie) wife of > J.A. (James Arthur) Brown; "Fancy" (Levisa Jane) wife of J. R. Leake and Nancy > (Nannie) E. Carter wife of I.D. Carter all residents of Wilkinson Co, MS." > Next date Jan. 9, 1888. > > SO, WAS MARY MCCEARLEY THE MOTHER OF THESE KIDS OR Labitha Ann???? Mary was their mother. She is in the census with them. All of the children where born before 1970. From the dates in your message, Wiley md. L. A. in 1873. Virginia
