Hope this helps somebody in their research on the Shropshire family..... Wiley Shropshire b. abt. 1830, dide befor. Aug. 10, 1887 was married to Mary McCurley b. abt. 1832, died unknown. They married June 6, 1854, Wilkinson Co. After going to the Natchez, MS City Cemetery today found out the following.... Their daughter Mattie (don't know her "full name" but believe Martha because of Wilk. Co. Court house records) was born Sept. 19, 1872 and died Aug. 15, 1947. Mattie was married to James Arthur Brown on Jan. 6, 1887 in Wilkinson Co., MS DON'T KNOW WHERE JAMES ARTHUR IS BURIED! Their children: (Tombstone) Arthur J. Brown (son) born Sept. 9, 1890 and died Dec. 28, 1974; Emma Brown born Sept. 4, 1894, died Mar. 25, 1969. her tombstone lists last name as VanDyke. WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHICH VANDYKE SHE WAS MARRIED TO? And Lillian Brown born 1888 and died 1944. She was married to Barto Millette Hope this helps! Brenda McCurley White

Brenda, James Arthur Brown is my grandfathers brother. Charles Edward Brown, my grandfather, married Elizabeth Shropshire, Wiley's sister. I think James is buried next to his brother Tom Brown in the Leake/Cavin cemetary. I will look at my information to make sure. I do have a picture of his tombstone as I was there this summer with my father. I have just got back in town so it may take me awhile but I will find it.
