    3. John Smith did not come with them. Or at least I have not been able to find any indication in the Natches or Wilkinson County Records that he did. Nor have I been able to find him in North or South Carolina where the family came from. I am not sure William came with the extended family to Natches. He may have arrived later. There are so many Williams in Natches records it is impossible to place many of them. He appears to have had a merchant ship and traveled extensively. He was in the Feliciana's but there are few records existing for him there. The only definite records I get are in St. Martin, Iberia, and St. Mary Parishes of Louisiana from about 1797 until his death in 1811. All of the rest of the family appear to have arrived with Zachariah or shortly thereafter. Most came with their in laws in tow. The only one of Zachariah's children who I have not been able to get a handle on their spouse's family is Peter. I know nothing about Joanna Goodby's parents or history though I would love to. Perhaps some were born and remained in Anson County or elsewere. Sherry, as to the first 5 children of William, have you checked Adams Co. records. Moses Bonner had a tract of land bordering our Widow Mary Foster here on St. Catherine Creek which was also very near the tract Zachariah purchased from Wm Penrice in 1783 and later sold to James Foster before removing to Wilkinson Co. You might also wonder, was there an epidemic in between the dates of birth of these children. So many children died in these epidemics. At least Barbara can account for Wm Martin Smith. I have a copy of some research done by Carolyn Brendt of Birmingham, AL She is a descendant of Capt Peter Smith through his daughter Frances Matilda. Are any of you familiar with this?
