Sherry, I don't have anything on Peter Smith, Jr.'s first wife. I do remember that he was married before he married Annanias. The Finley name sounds familiar but I don't know where I have seen it before. I visited the Smith Cemeter some years ago and recorded the names there. It seems that his first wife may have been burried there. Unfortunatley, I can't find my notes on this cemetery. I looked at them recently and must have misfiled them. Annanias was a Jones, daughter of Darling and grdaughter of William Jones. She married a Whitaker first then Peter Smith. The Jones family members were early settlers of Liberty in Amite County. Darling married a Mary Smith but I don't know if she was related to the Smith's in Wilkinson County. What is your connection to the Smith family? James' daughter Nancy Ann Smith married her first cousin John Moses Smith son of William. One of John and Nancy's daughters Roseanna married a Peter Smith in Vermillion Parish, Louisiana ca. 1845, therefore my interest in your Peter Jr. Have you had any luck finding information on Peter Srs wife Joanna Goodby? William Smith was married to Prudence Bonner the daughter of Moses Bonner and Charity Johns or Jones. Now I am wondering if there is a connection between her and Annanias' family.
