A recognized bit of ignorance keeps one humble. Here's mine, what are all the numbers and are they really necessary? I would not dare let a single digest go by regardless of whose family it is without reading it, I don't understand why the numbers are necessary.
I don't do the numbering of the digest but I think they are numbered so people can tell them apart. I can't think of any other reason. The digest is just a collection of the messages that come to the list. Folks that subscribe to MSWILKIN-L get the messages, one by one, as they come to the list. Folks who subscribe to the MSWILKIN-D get the digest version which has the same messages, but sent as a group when there are enough messages, or enough time passes. The messages may be a few days old by the time you get them. I notice some people subscribe to both MSWILKIN-L and MSWILKIN-D. and get the same messages twice. The digest works best on list with a lot of messages. Virginia > A recognized bit of ignorance keeps one humble. Here's mine, what are all the > numbers and are they really necessary?
