Hello, I saw where your researching the Jones name in Franklin co. Ms. So am I. I'm researching ..Austin Jones, his wife Nancy Ann Walker. They are living in Franklin co. on the 1880 census. They have children: Johnny D. b. 1870, Homa Leona b. 1872, she would later married William Oliver Floyd, P.Rosa b. 1974, and Elizabeth b. 1877. Austin served in the 6th Ms. Infantry co. G. out of Copiah co. Austin's father was Drury Jones b. 1785 in North Carolina, who first married Margaret Holbrook, from South Carolina. Austin had brothers named William, Matthew, and a sister named Sarah. Drury had a brother named Charles b. 1795 in South Carolina, who married a sister to Margaret Holbrook, named Easter Holbrook. Charles named his children Austin J., and Matthew. The funny thing about this was that the father of Margaret and Easter Holbrook was Austin Holbrook. Someone also told me that Austin Holbrook was run out of South Carolina for supporting the British during the Rev. War. Drury Jones's second wife was Catherine Fisher. She was the one he had his children by. Austin must have been in Wilkinson Co. Ms at a later time in his life, as he was reported to be rejected for a Confederate Pension.
