Hi There! I TOOOOO am hoping to find out stuff on the Land-Roach connection. I will tell you what I have found. I have also found what you mentioned in your last posting, below. I, too, am stumped as to the possibility of Louisa's parents and Thomas's parents. Do you have Thomas and Louisa's marriage info: It is from Mississippi Marriages, 1766 - 1935. and their marriage date was 20 Nov, 1845, in Wilkinson County, MS. It is interesting, but I found a Thomas M. Land, b. abt. 1806 in MS, living in Ward 8, Morehouse, LA, in the 1850 Census: Thomas M Land, 41 (It was a little hard to read, so I THINK it says his age is 41.) Louisa is 27 and they were both born in MS. They are showing two sons: Samuel M. (the writing is so slanted, it is possibly Daniel, but a Samuel isn't 'dotted' with an 'i'...who is 4 years old. He was b. in La. There is also another son shown for this Thomas Land: William Jas (James?) who is 2 years old and was also b. in La. Personally, I think this may be our Thomas and Louisa. I also saw the Thomas you saw, in the 1870 Harris County, TX Census. But there is another entry that is quite puzzling, in light of the above entry, where there was a Thomas and Louisa living in La. in the 1850 census. In the 1860 Wilkinson County, MS, census there is the following, which I will take from a file I made just for them. (I am considering them as possibly the same couple because this Louisa's age is the same as the one in La and this Thomas's age is the same or almost the same as the one in La. ALSO, the sons are there again, only older this time: _1860 United States Federal Census_ (http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/list.aspx?dbid=7667&path=) _Mississippi_ (http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/list.aspx?dbid=7667&path=Mississippi) _Wilkinson_ (http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/list.aspx?dbid=7667&path=Mississippi.Wilkinson) : pg 2 T M Land, male, aged 55 and a planter, b. in MS Louisa P. (or F. - hard to tell) 37 female, aged 37, b. in MS Samuel M. male, aged 14, b. in MS pg 3: Wm J., 12 b. in MS Thomas A., 10, b. in MS Martin L., 6 b. in MS Mary E., 8. b. in MS Francis L. (female), 4, b. in MS Wiley G. 1, b. in MS Unless I am mistaken, I think this IS our Land Roach family. From what I have found, it would appear that they lived in La. for a while and then moved back to MS. their ages and children's names (the 2 sons they already had) are the same. In 1870, in Houston (Harris County) TX, Ward 2, pg 37, the name and age is the same as is the place of birth. There are two more additional children, but all the names of the above families and ages are the same. The two new children are: Louisia, 8, and she is shown to be born in TX. IF the next daughter is their's and not belonging to who they live with, then they went all the way back to MS and then all the way back to Texas!! Bernadette? or Bernachts, 6, female, b. in MS. I have all these census pages, so if you would like me to send them to you, I will, or anyone who is researching this family. I have both census records and would be glad to forward them to you. Just email me privately and I will do so. All the best to you and yours, Linda _Ln4128@aol.com_ (mailto:Ln4128@aol.com) In a message dated 3/13/2007 9:12:06 A.M. Ive been trying for a 1 1/2 years to find out about these families. Thomas M. Land b. abt 1805 - Mississippi d. aft 1870 - Texas married Louisa Roach 11-20-1845 in Wilkinson Co, Ms. Louisa (Laura) Roach b. 1823 - Mississippi d. unknown - Texas In the 1820 census of Wilkinson Co, the only person with sons under 16 (Thomas would have been 15) was JAMES LAND As far Louisa, she would only fit with REBECCA ROACH, having the only female under 10. If anyone knows anything about Thomas & Louisa or James Land and Rebecca Roach, please let me know. I would GREATLY appriciate it!

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
