Leak) of said minor (William A. Leak) died in 1858 and made no provision for the guardian of said minor….. DATED: FEB. 19th, 1870 ….Petition of J.G. Owens. The petition of John G. Owens of said county respectfully shows that William A. Leek late of said county deceased left one child William A. Leek who is now a minor under the age of 14 years. That said minor as heir at law of said William A. Leek deceased who died intestate is entitled to an individual 1/3 interest in one hundred and twenty acres of land in said county and your petitioner is advised that as legal guardian is _____ for the petitioner of the interests of said minor _____. That Ann S. Owens is the mother of said minor and entitled in law to the letters of guardianship. That your petitioner John G. Owens has lately intermarried with the same Ann S. who was the late widow of said deceased William A. Leek and that your petitioner now holds the relationship of step father to said minor….. DATED: Feb. 21, 1870 (Note: William A. Leak b. abt. 1835 married Lydia Rabb b. abt. 1830 in January 7, 1855, Wilkinson County. Lydia Rabb remarried John G. Owens in Adams County, Ms on Sept. 24, 1868. Her name was listed as Mrs. S.A. Leek. She was listed on the 1870 census as Lydia Ann, age 40. Her HUSBAND John G. Owens, age 25 and William A. Leak, age 11. The son of William A. Leak and Lydia Rabb Leak was William A. Leak b. abt. 1859 married Mary Jane Aswell May 6, 1880 Wilkinson Co, MS, Bk L, pg. 479. Bond was signed by William A. Leak and V.M. (Volney Metcalf Rabb). Volney Metcalf Rabb and Martha Bunch also had a daughter by the name of Lydia Ann Rabb, her birth date was Oct. 27, 1872 ---Do not know who the bond was signed by on the William A. Leak/Lydia Rabb marriage. The book their marriage license would be in, Book J can not be found by the Wilkinson County Courthouse.
