Seeking info on Robert Shropshire (he was 25 in 1850 census) married Jan. 21, 1847 in Wilkinson Co. to Margaret Ellen McCurley--age 23 on 1850 census-- (dau. of Joseph McCurley b. abt. 1800 and Jane Unknown) Known children (I think) of Robert and Margaret Ellen 1. Alvira Shropshire (listed on 1880 census but as Elmira on Amite Co. Marriage Records). Married to Louis W. Arnold April 25, 1870, Amite Co. 2. Melinda Shropshire (age 2 on 1850 census) 3. Brenda, I'm sure others have more complete info on this family, but this is what I have. Robert and Margaret's children: 1) Melinda b. ca 1848, 2) Joseph b. ca 1849, marr. Luda Borders on 4 Jan 1877, East Feliciana Parish, LA, 3) Jane b. ca 1851, marr. ? Sides. Robert is the son of Walter and Tabitha Day Shropshire. Elvira Lethia King b. ca 1837, Wilkinson Co., daughter of Thomas and Harriet King, 1st married William Shropshire on 22 Jul 1857, Wilkinson Co., and marr. 2nd Louis W. Arnold.
