Don, Could that be the Geter Cemetery? It is located North of Oak Lane off Possum Corner Rd. If you got a GPS might check these 31 20.976 N 91 15.902 W you should be close . W. Dave Anderson
Hi Dave Yes Geter Cemetery has to be the one I am speaking of. Do you know it? I pulled it up on the map from the Lat/Long you gave me and it went right to the spot I tried to get to, but since it was hunting season, and I was sure that was someone's hunting lease, plus the mud I didn't venture much pass the little black church an it's cemetery down Oaklane. those Enlow Headstones would have had to be just outside the broken down fence on the west side. Can you tell me anything else about the cemetery? Who I might have to talk to to get permission to view it? I don't know how I found it the first time I visited the location. My Great Grand Father,(Benjamin Franklin Enlow) and Great Grand Mother died from yellow fever back in 1876, leaving a 5 year old son. I'm sure the only markers they must have had were wooden. Their home should have been somewhere near that area. I would assume Jessie Enlow Jr br. 1807(Great Great Grandfather) would have had a headstone though since he had 9 kids. Hi Don, Sorry do not know anything about the cemetery except where it shows up on the map. I understand from Lee Carter that according to the land deed map it is on North American Timber Corp. land.. No idea how to get in touch with them. After hunting season and a dry spell maybe you can get there. Good luck.
