Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.mississippi.counties.wilkinson/770/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for assistance in trying to find records on the Spanish American War Veterans from the State of Mississippi. I am trying to gather any and all information about them, and anyone who is interested in helping please feel free to contact me at Johnnyreb6@aol.com. I am currently gathering the rosters of all the Southern Volunteers who served in the Spanish American War, and as you can imagine it's pretty difficult trying to locate all these men by ones self, so I'm looking for any help that I can get. I'm looking for any artifacts, grave locations, personal documents, etc... regarding the Veterans of 1898' to 1902' from Mississippi, or any other State for that matter. This is part of a larger effort by myself and the members of the Micah John Jenkins Camp No. 164, Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, to try and make sure that the Veterans of the Spanish American War, Philippine Insurrection, and China Relief Expedition, are remembered. If anyone is interested in more information about the S.S.A.W.V. please feel free to visit our website at: http://www.geocities.com/sonsofspanamwar/, for more information about the Colonel George M. Govan Outpost of the Camp which is in Mississippi. Thank you all for your time, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Kenneth H. Robison II, Camp President, Micah J. Jenkins Camp No. 164, Sons of Spanish American War Veterans.

    3. My grandfather went somewhere to join (enlist?) the Spanish American War effort. He said the War ended before he actually was able to join. I don't know if he ever submitted registration papers. Does anyone know whether there would be records of would-be enlisted men? Was this during the time when all men of a certain age had to submit military registration information? If so, how could I locate these records? Thanks to anyone with information or advice.
