Nan, You know the Richard Swayze family descends as follow.... Richard Sr./Sarah Horton Richard Jr./Hanna Budd Solomon/Mary "Polly" Boyd (2nd wife) Benjamin Franklin/Sarah Sophronia Farrar... In the Decendants of the Jersey Settlers book (Volume I, pg. 598) I found the following... "Sarah Sophronia Farrar, daughter of Daniel Farrar and Eliza King, b. Feb. 19, 1830 m. 1847, Benjamin Franklin Swayze of Wash-a-way plantation. They were children of first cousins, Solomon Swayze being Benjamin's father. By purchase they came into possession of some of the old Nathan Swayze property east of Martin's creek, therefore east of Kingston and Commencement plantations. They called their home "Frogmore." They had five children. Their death dates are not recorded. Because it is known that Sophronia and Benjamin Franklin are buried in the King family cemetery without markers it is presumed they died during the Civil War." Apparently Benjamin Franklin Swayze and Sarah Sophronia Farrar lived on Frogmore Plantation for quiet sometime because one of their sons (William Holliday Swayze) married Belle Sharpe. And again in The Decendants of the Jersey Settlers book (Volume I, pg. 309) there is a picture of Belle Sharpe Swayze with the caption of "Wife of William Holliday Swayze, Frogmore Plantation, Kingston, Mississippi" Photo courtesy of Daniel William Huff, Baton Rouge, LA Hope this helps Brenda McCurley White

    3. Is there a book published that list Wilkinson Co. pre-statehood or pre war plantations, or, just landowners? My Scott family received land from the Spanish government that was located on the Homochitto River just above Lake Mary. Does the Wilkinson Co Historical Society have records of landowners this far back? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brenda White" <brendywhite@bellsouth.net> To: <mswilkin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2007 7:10 AM Subject: Re: [MSWILKIN] Frogmore Plantation > on 7/13/07 8:50 PM, Nan at nschuchs@dishmail.net wrote: > >> I was told today that this plantation was once owned by Swayze--does >> anyone >> know which one? > > Nan, > > You know the Richard Swayze family descends as follow.... > > Richard Sr./Sarah Horton > > Richard Jr./Hanna Budd > > Solomon/Mary "Polly" Boyd (2nd wife) > > Benjamin Franklin/Sarah Sophronia Farrar... > > In the Decendants of the Jersey Settlers book (Volume I, pg. 598) > I found the following... > > "Sarah Sophronia Farrar, daughter of Daniel Farrar and Eliza King, b. 3. There is a book of Original Signers which list the name of first property owners, the location of the property, the acreage, price, and if it was a Spanish grant, English grant, or purchased. This book has been put on microfilm and is available for rent through your nearest Family History Center. If you are not sure of the nearest FHC check www.familysearch.org for locations and the call number of the film. Almost all the records in the Chancery Clerks office before 1920, and marriage records before 1920, have been filmed by the LDS church and are available to anyone, anywhere. The original microfilm are stored in the Granite Mountain in Salt Lake and are now in the process of being digitalized. It will be a few years before they are available but some day all the records stored in the mountain will be available to anyone on the internet.
