    1. [MSWILKIN] Robert L. Cavin
    2. Virginia Ewing
    3. I know Robert L. Cavin md Huldah Jamieson who died after the 1900 census, probably before 1902. Marriage records show R. L. Cavin md. Mrs. M. J. Jamieson 17 Dec 1902. This has to be Mary Jane Nettles, widow of Fielding Turner Jamieson, but is this R. L. Cavin the same man who md. Huldah Jamison, sister in law of Mary Jane? Virginia

    3. Anyone know where Holliman Hastings fits? I understand he lived in Natchez, at one time, but I can not find him in the census. I think he may be showing up with a different name. I was wondering how he related to Mack Cavin, the son of Elizabeth Hastings and James Pais Cavin. Virginia

    1. [MSWILKIN] Thomas Young - Red Wood Creek - 1820 - Later Whereabouts?
    2. According to the 1820 census of Feliciana Parish, Thomas Young and his children were residing on Red Wood Creek in Feliciana Parish, which had not divided into two parishes.. According to a Bible Record for the George Keller [Sr.] Family of Wilkinson Co., MS, Thomas Young had been married to a Keller daughter. Some of their children were [according to the abstraced/transcribed George Keller Bible record: Wm. J. Young - 29 Apr 1809 Elizabeth J. Young - 23 Aug 1811 Henry Young 23 Feb 1814 Their mother [Sarah?] Keller apparently died after the birth of the youngest child. The older children were likely born in South Carolina, probably Sumter Co., SC, where the elder Geroge Kellers had lived [land records] and sold land as late as 1810. Can any subscriber add to my knowledge of this family? There are lots of Youngs in that area of Louisiana/Mississippi, and sorting them out may be hard. I would appreciate any help in sorting them out. E.W.Wallace

    1. [MSWILKIN] Searching Wilkinson Co. records
    2. I have visited Woodville, MS and spent a little time in the library but not in the courthouse. Most of my research of early Wilkinson Co., MS has been conducted using the films held by the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. (Thank goodness for those films which frequently preserve records which are no longer available to the general public.) This is one of my experiences. I knew from Nicholas Murray's (Hunting for Bears) published indexes of Wilkinson Co. marriages that my Scott ancestor (male) from Feliciana Parish [before it became two parishes] had married a girl across the State line in Wilkinson Co. As I was considering joining a lineage society on that fellow's father, who was a patriot in SC [a sergeant], I wrote for the marriage record. What I got back was an altered 20th century marriage record with the names inserted. Later, as I had more leisure, I ordered a number of Wilkinson Co. films to my local FHC. What a surprise--here among the many records was my Scott fellow's marriage bond, with a LOT more information than the *official* record which I received from the Wilkinson Co. county clerk's office. The minutes of the probate courts are wonderful, although the loose papers of the probate packets

    1. [MSWILKIN] Richard Larrieu family
    2. Carolyn Switzer
    3. This note was sent to me as a Wilkinson County query, but I think there might be someone on the mailing list who could help Marilyn with this request. She is not on the mailing list so send replies to: mbowersjensen@msn.com Carolyn Switzer Dear Carolyn: I am trying to locate the family of Richard G. Larrieu who was Killed in Action during world war II on January 25, 1945. My dad was with his company and was also Killed in Action that day. I am trying to locate 1st Lt. Larrieu's family to tell them about a monument which I have erected where they were killed, which has Richard's name engraved. All I know is from the national archives, which indicates he was from Wilkinson County, MS. Do you know anyone who might be able to go through the newspapers for this time period and see if they are any obits, etc. which might mention family members. My mother was informed of my father's death on February 14th, so I would start with that date, February 14, 1945. I would gladly pay for a researcher's time to do this. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you very much. Marilyn Bowers Jensen, daughter of PFC Rex Bowers, Company C., 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Division, Killed in Action January 25, 1945.
