    1. Re: [MSWILKIN] --- Jackson Family of Woodville
    2. Robbie, The first records I have found my family Jackson in is the 1870 census for Woodville, Wilkinson County. I have been told my great grandfather Beuargard Jackson was born in Natchez btw 1862 -1864 ... I have been unable to document this birth information. The 1870 census has his age listed as 6 yrs, the 1880 census have his age as 18yrs. I do have a copy of his marriage bond dated 12/21/1881 to Nannie Harris of Starkville. In the 1870 census living next door is a Susan Jackson age 77 birthplace SC, in all probability she is related and could be Beuargard's grandmother and my ggg-grandmother. Where in SC are your Jackson's from? Maybe buried in your family records are my Jackson family :) or the least I can do is search the area in SC for more information or brick walls. Like Virginia said you Never know what clue will turn up. All and any leads are welcome as I search for my African American Jackson Family. Thanks, Pat

    3. Dear Virginia: I scan all Wilkinson Co. e-mails----just in case. The March, 1838, newspaper reports that a Daniel Bartlet (not certain if any relation)"... was found dead on Thursday the 8th, near the residence of Mr. Thos. White of Buffaloe..." Your 1836 Appraisers list contains the name of Thomas White . I wonder if it's the same person mentioned in "The Woodville Republican." My g-grandfather, William W. Bartlett, was born in 1823 near Woodville, MS. I visited the genealogical library there and poured through the probates and etc., but could find nothing about Daniel Bartlet(t?) or any heirs. He also is not listed in any cemeteries. It just makes me feel good that there is a Thomas White serving as an appraiser. You included a Daniel Bartlett (1822) as a juror in one of your earlier postings. Thank you so much for your efforts, Ray Bartlett ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia Ewing" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 09, 2004 4:56 AM Subject: [MSWILKIN] names in the 1836 probate records > Names appearing in the 1836 probate records > > > > DECEASED > > HARRIS ANDERSON, JOHN ANDERSON, ROBERT ANDERSON > > > > JAMES BAILEY, MARY W. My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Stewart married to William Bethea Rogers. Her mother was Nancy Stewart and her father was William Stewart. Probably all were related. Thanks again for all your work. Let me know when you complete your book. Martha Henagan Luby

    3. Looking for information on Benjamin Ferguson (my GGGrandfather) m. Mary Wright abt. 1815. A daughter of Benjamin Ferguson named Ellen Ferguson m. Joel Glass Dec. 16, 1844 in Wilkinson County (have copy of marriage certificate). Joel and Ellen are listed in 1850 and 1860 Census from Wilkinson Co. Ellen F. Glass probably died about 1866 and Joel Glass died Feb. 23, 1888. Question?--is Joel Glass (husband of Ellen Ferguson) the son of Joel Glass who died in 1836? I would like to correspond with anyone who has information on Benjamin Ferguson or Joel Glass. Thanks, H. D. 1. Re: [MSWILKIN] names in the 1836 probate records
    2. Hello Virginia, The 1836 probate records information included names of ancestors I would like to learn more about. Francis P. Wall is probably, Francis Prousset Wall, son of John Wall (1751-1813) and Sarah Lovelace (1776-1833). John L. Wall is probably his brother John Lovelace Wall. If anyone has information about them or several of their brothers in Wilkinson County, I would really appreciate hearing from them. Their mother's maiden name started several generations of Lovelace given names in our family. Thanks, Frank Russell Wall

    3. at this time I am sending what I have on the surnames requested on this probate. I am not posting the entire thing to the list as I do not want Rootsweb to claim ownership some time in the future. I am planning to do a book along the lines of the one Casey did in Amite county so don't want to give it all away. What is here is generally just give you the dates of the will being filed, inventory brought in, etc. However, when there are children it sometimes gives the name of their parents. I think it is all worth having or I wouldn't spend so much time on it. Just send me a list of all you names of interest and I will send you what shows up for that name. I will send you what I have on the names you have mentioned here. Depending or what is available, I may send in several messages. 2. Hi Virginia, I guess most of my Wilkinson families were gone by 1836 (sigh): RUTLEDGE, ROBERT, GRIMBALL, & associated TANNER, CHENEY & JAUDON... However, these folks interest me for their connections to the Rutledge family: under deceased: JOEL GLASS, SAMUEL GLASS under administrators: LEMUEL C. GLASS, WILLIAM O. GLASS under other names mentioned: SAMUEL GLASS If it's not too much trouble, please send what you have on them? I've thanked you in the past for your efforts on behalf of this list and I thank you again! And thanks to Brenda for her efforts as well! Cyndi Rutledge in Baltimore
