To PJH, From the publication "Hometown, Mississippi" by James Brieger, Empire came into being about 1910 as a huge cotton estate one-half mile east of Estill. The estate was owned by the Delta & Pine Lumber Company with headquarters at Scott in Bolivar County. Empire would be located at the intersection of Highway 61S and the Estill- Darlove Road about 2.5 miles north of Hollandale. Dan A.
