Does anyone have an Anderson married to a Savage prior to1825? Anywhere in the country. Christmas begins it and Easter completes it
Would any of those Allens have a relative or descendant by the name of Steve Bennet Allen dob abt dec. 1896 and served in the Army during WWI - its possible he was born in Madison Cty. I know he migrated to washington county - Leland MS and had children with Jean "pretty" Rawls. I have reached a dead end as no SS info. He died in Jackson MS approx 1956. The Burton family owned land at or near Butronia landing in 1875. John Burton was married to Virginia ?? on the 1870 census, and had 2 children Arthur and Lucy. John is gone on the 1880 census. 2 children born 1874 & 1876 with a mother of Carrie Black are found in the home of a cousin V R Burton. Jim Brieger's book says Florence and Edna (the 2 youngest) inherited the land and sold it to a R.J.McCoy and it became Burtonia Plantation. The 2nd daughter married Sam Jones The son went to Venezuela, Florence married O.S.Unger , Edna married Frank Mason Pepper. I am seeking information on John and his parents can anyone help or offer suggestions as to where to go. Thanks for reading Jim Christmas begins it and Easter completes it

Lynda, Burtonia, Humphreys County, Mississippi was an old steamboat landing located on the north bank of the Yazoo River from which the town of Belzoni sprang up. The land was owned by John Burton, and the landing was named for him. The settlemant gradually drifted to Belzoni, and after the death of Burton, the property passed into the possession of Florence and Edna Burton. In 1900, the property was sold to R. J. McCoy, and Burtonia became a plantation. This information is taken from pg 285 of "Hometown, Mississippi" by James Brieger. There is no listing for Westbug in this book. Hello, I'm new to your list and seeking help on information about Empire, Mississippi. I found that it is located in Washington Co., but that's as far as I can get. Does Empire still exist, does Empire have a cemetery or can anyone tell me about Empire? Thank you for your help. Paula
To PJH, From the publication "Hometown, Mississippi" by James Brieger, Empire came into being about 1910 as a huge cotton estate one-half mile east of Estill. The estate was owned by the Delta & Pine Lumber Company with headquarters at Scott in Bolivar County. Empire would be located at the intersection of Highway 61S and the Estill- Darlove Road about 2.5 miles north of Hollandale. Dan A.
