Hi, Cay, how are you? Here you go. Karen Carlyn Williams IUKA - Carlyn Crawford Williams, 88, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Carrington House in Iuka. She was the eleventh child born to the late William " Bill" Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Crawford of the south Crossroads community. While attending Holcut High School, she was the captain of the girls' basketball team and graduated as Valedictorian in 1935. She also attended Freed-Hardeman Junior College in Henderson, Tenn., and the Northeast Miss. Junior College in Booneville. She taught school at Liberty School near her home and at Friendship School in Itawamba County. In 1942, she was employed by the Tishomingo County Electric Power Association as cashier, meter order clerk, accountant and office manager. She retired from TCEPA in 1980, after 38 1/2 years of employment. She was Worthy Matron of the Iuka Chapter No. 126 and appointed Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of the State of Mississippi, Order of the Eastern Star in 1963. She served on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Tuberculosis Association and as Chairman of Christmas Seals Sales in Tishomingo County. She was also active in the 3rd District Federated Clubs, the Lucy Rowe Study Club and the Twentieth Century Club. That club's accomplishments in 1950 won a $10,000 award promoted by Kroger, which resulted in the construction of the Youth Center in Iuka's Mineral Springs Park. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at the Iuka Baptist Church and also served as treasurer of the Tishomingo County Baptist Association for several years. She was always very active in politics and community affairs, having served as past secretary-treasurer of the Tishomingo County Republican Party. Her love of traveling carried her to 46 states plus Canada, Old Mexico and the Bahamas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Jim Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in the Cypress Grove Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Glen Williams of Iuka; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Loren Gurley, Braxton Hester, Andy Crawford, Andrew Crawford, Ronnie Crawford and Gary Bullard.
