Joe Strickland GOLDEN - Orville "Joe" Strickland, 83, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at his home. He was born March 6, 1924, in Lee County to Quitman and Ethel Davis Strickland. He was retired from the maintenance department at Sunshine Mills after 33 years. He attended Golden United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Golden United Methodist Church with Bro. Donnie Riley and Bro. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Opal Strickland of Golden; one son, Dudley Strickland (Brenda) of Fulton; two grandchildren, Anna Searcy (Anthony) and Andy Strickland, both of Fulton; three sisters, Mary Graham (John), Alene Wiginton (Elton) and Betty Sue Montgomery, all of Golden. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, S.A. Strickland. Pallbearers will be Andy Strickland, Anthony Searcy, Rodney Forrest, George Forrest, Ken Skelton and David Wiginton. Honorary pallbearers will be John Graham, Elton Wiginton, Trellis Petree, Donald Thomas and Zeth Ray Hill. Visitation will be at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Thursday.
