Elizabeth S. Barnett married to William R. James in 1840 in Giles Co TN. They had 9 children: Nancy A.E, William R, Simon Henry, John Andrew, Marion Sommerset, Elizabeth Jane, Erskin McCutcheon, and two others. William R James died in 1863 in a Union prison. He was a citizen and a farmer in Tishomingo Co. Why he was imprisoned I have no idea. He had two sons in the Confederate army. In 1869 and 1871 Elizabeth had two more children -James Coleman and Clara who went by the name of James most of their lives except for a short time they went by Caldwell. Legend has that she remarried to a Frank Caldwell who took off with the silver and best team a few years later. Her tombstone says Elizabeth S James. I can find no Elizabeth James and children nor an Elizabeth Caldwell anywhere in 1870. I find her two oldest James sons one in Tishomingo Co and one in Hill Co Texas. I have checked Tishomingo, Alcorn, Prentiss, Mississippi as well as Giles Co Tn and Texas. Eventually the! y all ended up in Texas. Any suggestions on finding her in 1870 would be appreciated. Where can they be ???
