Yes, I am familiar with the story of your Eliza Long and its place in one of our history books. I have looked in the cemetery books (Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo counties - since at that time Tishomingo county encompassed all three counties), the marriage books, the 1840 and 1850 census with no mention of the William Long (husband) or Eliza. Do you have any indication where they resided? Brenda At 07:22 PM 04/07/2000 -0700, you wrote: >In 1848, an Eliza L.B. Long was murdered by a slave by the name of Adaline in Tishomingo County. The slave girl was tried and found guilty and she was hung in October of 1848. The Eliza Long was my ancester and I am trying to find out her age and anything else about her. Are any records of that time available in Tishomingo County? This story was written up as the Second Legal Execution in the county, in a history of Tish. County. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to go for more info on this. Thanks for any help.
