Officiating will be the Rev. John M. Causey with interment in Rienzi City Cemetery. McPeters Mortuary of Corinth is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burkitt died Aug. 27 at Magnolia Hospital after an illness of some five months. He was a Baptist. Mr. Burkitt was a civil engineer in the Corinth area for 19 years. He served as consulting engineer for the Alcorn Co. Board of Supervisors for 16 years. He was a graduate of the University of Miss. with a degree of civil engineering. Mr. Burkitt was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a native of Okolona, Miss., the son of the late Capt. and Mrs. B.F. Burkitt of that town. He leaves his wife, Dorothy Ramer Burkitt of Corinth; one son, Dr. Frank Burkitt and a grand daughter, Lee Ann Burkitt both of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Gaskin of Milam, Tennessee, and Mrs. H.E. King Sr. of Columbus, Mississippi. Pallbearers include James Billingsley, Dr. Bob Davis, Dr. Johnny Bryant, Kenneth Williams, Eddie Gatlin, David Coleman, Robert Worsham and Dick Taylor. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Alcorn Co. Board of Supervisors and Chancery Court Clerk. (NOTE: NOT MY LINES!)
