Seeking ancestral info on Solomon Long and son-in-law Nathaniel Thomason of Tishomingo Co MS and Johnson Co AR. Solomon Long, b ca 1800 TN, married Elizabeth "Betsy" Byford on 20 Dec 1820 in Rutherford Co TN . E. C. (Esquire, Squire) Long married Malinda Byford there on 4 May 1829. In 1830 Solomon and Squire are in McNairy Co TN; in 1841 they're listed in the Itawamba Co MS state census. Itawamba borders Tishomingo Co MS, where Solomon is found in 1850. Also listed in 1841 Itawamba were Edward and John Long. In an 1838 Itawamba tax list were Benjamin, Edward, John, John B. and William E. Long and Henry Byford. I don't have proof, but it appears likely to me that Solomon and Squire were sons of Edward Long. Solomon went from Itawamba Co to neighboring Tishomingo Co MS by 1850. By 1860 he's in Johnson Co, Arkansas, where in the 1870 census he's found in Spadra Township near his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Stephen Cowan, and the children of his apparently deceased daughter Anna.
